Page 17-02 Build Time: 410 hrs

The left hand skins are primed and ready for assembly. It took a lot of work to get this far and I'm looking forward to building out a wind and getting it out of the shop. Priming adds so much to the build that I wouldn't recommend it unless you absolutely had a reason to. But this is the path I've taken and when it's all said and done they look great. The skins are pretty hard to move around while the primer is wet so it's hard not to put some flaws in them when hanging them up for drying. In a real paint shop you could just leave them where they were sprayed and they would come out great. I bought a better gun and after a couple hours with it I think I could actually do a good job on the exterior. Not that I will - I intend to have it done - but I'm getting pretty good at painting. Time to pull the left spar down and begin assembly!
They look like real airplane part after prime.

Time to pull this stuff down.

A shop full of parts ready to become a flying structure.

I even prime the areas that will overlap other assemblies.

Notice how leaving on the plastic takes care of  overspray. Learned this on the rudder.
